While photographing in Neal Preserve in western Manatee County, my camera was trained on a lone osprey perched in a tree. Suddenly through the lens I noticed the osprey’s demeanor change, crouched down, eyes piercing and wings extended, I thought, “wow, this bird is really getting mad at me.” Then the explosion, as another osprey swooped down, colliding with the first bird, I got one frame with both birds. After the birds were gone, the photograph provided a view of the extended talons and I realized that these birds meant business.
