Florida weather is unpredictable. After dodging several rain storm I ended up on the northern tip of Anna Maria Island. To my northeast the rain that had been drenching me for two hours was a colorful backdrop for several Egrets gathered on the rocky shore. The storm passed and so did the egrets as they took flight out over Tampa Bay.

The Gallery Series is a collection of fine art photographs capturing the wildlife and beauty of Florida’s west coast. Each photograph is custom printed using a Canon iPF8400 photographic printer and Canon’s archival 12-Color LUCIA EX pigment ink on acid-free fine art paper.

A dozen palms are reflected in a flooded section of Myakka River State Park in Sarasota, Florida. Often in the summer rainy season the river floods changing the view of the landscape and provides scenes not normally found in other parts of the year. As the waters recede and dry conditions prevail, the landscape and its colorful hues again change. Dating back to the 1930’s, Myakka River State Park is one of the oldest and largest at 37,000 acres. Room to Grow: A cypress tree is reflected in the shallow water of Lake Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge, located on the Albemarle-Pamlico Peninsula in North Carolina. At 18 miles long and 7 miles wide, Lake Mattamuskeet is the largest natural lake in the state. In spite of its size at 40,100 acres, the lake only averages 2–3 feet in depth. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and gazed toward the Gulf of Mexico and across the desert-like sandy beach, my first thought was, I can not take another step, I will ruin it! St. Joseph Peninsula State Park in Florida’s panhandle, is one of the few places in the state where footprints are rare, condominiums are invisible and the winds blow freely across the Gulf.
